Praise for Need

“Alberta Turner is a poet of dark, forceful images, wrenched it seems from a life brisling with awareness.  Her sense of the world, tersely expressed in the title of her book, is a recognition of human unfulfillment, of needs unmet between man and man and between man and nature.  Her imagination strikes one over and over with its rightness as much as with its originality.  I hope these poems will begin to be known more widely; they are fierce, stoic, and memorable.”
— Adrienne Rich
