Praise for Richard Snyder
“It seems, in retrospect, that Richard Snyder’s poems sum up the virtues of their generation — clarity, firm structure, technical prowess — while, in their freshness and genuine feeling, escaping that same generations faults. I turn to Snyder’s work again and again belatedly thankful for its author’s profound modesty, his insistence on truth-telling, his mastery of the language, his dry and delectable wit, his large and generous spirit, his stubborn and unswerving love for the human race.”
— X.J. Kennedy
“Let me say, above all, that I am sure that Richard Snyder has a vocation for poetry. His poems are high grade and “belong” in print. His exuberance is what I like.”
— John Crowe Ransom
“In this time, when a good deal of what’s ‘in’ hasn’t been thought out, Richard Snyder’s careful and caring poems make him, to my mind, one of the finest poets working today.”
— Alice Moser Claudel
